The brief was to design a tourist pavilion at Dumbarton Castle, not bigger than 3m x 3m, considering the quantity and quality of light and views into and out of the enclosure.

Every window is an architectural phenomenon, which connects the interior to the outside environment. The massive rock cliff makes Dumbarton castle intriguing and through the rooflight I attempted to highlight the remarkable topography. Furthermore, the angle of the window gives the visitors a view of the skyline when they are sitting on the sofa. The other window opening offers a view of the Old French Prison and the ruins of Wallace Tower.

Another task to the brief was to design and detail a single window opening clearly portraying the structural layout and the insulation used for the building envelope.
